Important Announcement from the Taylor County School District
Taylor County Schools will have an early release for students on Friday, November 10, 2023. Bus students and car riders will be dismissed at the following times:
Taylor County Primary School – 11:15 a.m.
Taylor County Upper Elementary – 11:30 a.m.
Taylor County Middle and High Schools – 11:45 a.m.
First Grade Parents/Guardians are invited to attend the Literacy Event at Taylor County Primary School on Monday, October 30, at 12:00 - 1:30. We look forward to seeing you at the event.

The Taylor County Primary School Storybook Character Parade will be held on Friday, November 17, at 9:30 a.m. The parade will be held outside in the bus parking lot, weather permitting. Parents/Guardians may attend the parade if it is held outside. Seating will not be provided, but parents/guardians are welcome to bring a chair. Parents/Guardians may park in the field next to the teacher parking lot located in front of the school.
Requirements for participation:
Students must be dressed as a book character
Students must carry the BOOK from which the character came (no videotapes)
NOTE: Students should bring regular school clothes to change into after the parade is over.
The Taylor County School System has excelled in its 4-year cohort graduation rate for the year 2023. The Taylor County School System’s 4-year cohort graduation rate for the year 2023 is 92.13% and exceeds the state cohort graduation rate of 84.4%. The Second Grade Musical has been rescheduled for Friday, January 20, at 9:30 am. It will be held at the TCHS Auditorium.
We are continuing to monitor the weather for school dismissal. At this time, we plan to start running our buses about 15 minutes ahead of their normal schedule. We are willing to release car riders at the same time, but staff will remain on duty until all car riders have been picked up. Please know that a weather warning during this time could alter our schedule. The second grade musical has been cancelled for tonight (January 12, 2023) due to weather.

On Monday morning, the District was made aware of threatening social media postings. While these postings did not appear to be a direct threat to our school system, they were concerning. Out of an abundance of caution, we implemented safety measures and contacted law enforcement. It is our current understanding that these postings posed no threat to our students. As always, the safety and security of our students is our top priority.

The Taylor County School System has performed well this year in regards to its 4-year cohort graduation rate for the year 2022. The Taylor County School System’s 4-year cohort graduation rate for the year 2022 is 86.02% and exceeds the state cohort graduation rate of 84.1%. Congratulations to our students, faculty and staff for the teamwork that produced this accomplishment. It is our goal to keep up the good work as we partner together to offer excellent educational opportunities for the students of Taylor County.

We have updated our COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines that are posted on our website under the heading COVID-19 Information. There were only minor changes since our last update on April 6, 2022. As part of our COVID-19 Reopening Guidelines, we have included a link to our American Rescue Plan(ARP)Act – ESSER III-LEA Application.
